      Thompson Pond offers good fishing for many warm water fish. A survey conducted in 1994 showed.

Description
      On the south shore the land is Spencer State Forest.  This land has not been developed except for Camp Marshall that is located on this land and is run by Worcester County 4-H.  Camp Marshall was originally built as a Civilian Conservation Corps Camp in the 1930s. In 1948 the state provided a lease for a residential camp program. See below for more information.

  • 13 species:including Large and Small-mouth Bass, Chain Pickerel, Yellow Perch, White Perch, Black Crappie, Bluegill, Pumpkinseed, Brown and Yellow Bullhead, Golden Shiner, and Sucker.


Put-In/Take-Out Directions ( 18.0 miles, 29 minutes):
From Exit 9 Sturbridge of the Massachusetts Turnpike (Rt. 90)
  1. After the tollbooths, continue onto Interstate 84.
  2. At mile 1.2, Take exit 3A to merge onto Route 20 East/Charlton Road toward Charlton.
  3. Follow Route 20 East.
  4. ​At mile 3.6, at the stop light, turn left onto Route 49 North.
  5. At mile 11.0, turn right onto Route 9 East toward Spencer.
  6. At mile 11.4, at stop light, turn left on to Meadow Road.
  7. At mile 13.0, at stop sign, turn left onto Route 31 North.
  8. At mile 17.2, turn right onto Thompson Pond Road.
  9. At mile 18.0, arrive at causeway for car top launch roadside.

     We provide a safe and fun environment with hands-on, outdoor and educational experiences that foster respect, independence, and positive self-esteem.
       Camp Marshall features 275 unspoiled acres bordering Thompson Pond. For more than 50 years, it has been nestled in the rolling hills of Spencer, Massachusetts, just west of Worcester. Camp Marshall is a non profit organization and is governed by its Board of Directors.
