Fishing
Except for the chain pickerel, which offer a limited sport fishery, this pond is overpopulated with stunted pumpkinseeds and yellow perch. There is a good golden shiner population, which should provide an excellent forage base for pickerel, but few legal size pickerel were sampled.

Description
This pond was named after one of the first settlers, Hastings, in the 1700s, and is a fertile, 20-acre, warm water pond located one half mile southeast of Warwick center on Hastings Pond Road. The access off Hastings Road is very limited and informal. The pond has a bottom of gravel and muck. Emergent aquatic vegetation covers about five percent of the surface area. During summer stratification, the water is deoxygenated below 14 feet, a condition also reported in a 1955 survey. The shoreline is twenty percent developed with eight residential dwellings.
